A box makes its unannounced appearance on the doorstep of Maia’s house in Montreal. The box has been sent from Lebanon, but it's quickly stowed away. Spurred on by the peculiar reaction, Maia’s daughter Alex secretly delves into the contents. Notebooks, photos, and cassettes from her mother’s youth in war-torn Beirut are brought to life. The duo Khalil Joreige and Joana Hadjitomas subtlety expose how history is written; A photograph does not merely show us events of the days passed but is also an object that carries its own political history. What images will be remembered? And which will be forgotten?
